Curious if anyone has heard of Shakology and what their thoughts are on it. Also what is the recommended daily carb intake on a “low carb” diet?

What a disappointment… so I hear today that they’ve canceled the conference I was going to in Cancun. On the positive side, now I can go to the open house. (Cancun would have been great though)

    Jamie-
All I know about shakeology is that many friends on facebook are trying to convince me to buy it from them. I’m getting sick of it! I’ve even been told that it will, “change my life.” I’d like to know…has shakeology changed anyone’s life?!?!

Shakeology is a supplement shake. The people I know who use it, use it as a meal replacement. Take a look at the ingredient list – http://www.shakenutrition.com/about/shakeology-ingredients/

My vote is to eat real whole foods.

This is the third time I’ve done Karen.
    1/11/10- 25 with 10# ball and 125 with 4# ball-10:53
4/30/10-Didn’t write down time or weight of ball
    Today- 12# ball – 8:56

Sure wish I had written down the time and weight in April. It’s fun to see the progress over the months and motivating when I feel like I am not making any progress at all.

JaimeW – the low carb that most paleo people go by is less than 100g/day. Usually it is 50-75g from what I have been reading.

As for the shakes, this came up the last time as well. Everything I have read says that if a person is trying to lean out, liquid food is a horrible idea. Even post workout. The quick and dirty is this: liquid food tends to elevate blood glucose and insulin levels through the nice burst of carbs usually, causing slowed/no fat loss.

If you have an ipod, download some of Robb Wolf’s paleo solution podcasts. The very first one covers post WOD nutrition and goes over shakes.

I did a Sunday Morning Barbara. 31:42. I knew this would be harder in a non-class setting, but that last set did not seem to want to end at all.

Have to do this one at home later. Joe your time does not make me feel good about how long it will take me.

    • September 7th, 2010 2:06pm

I agree with Joe, the hand release really plagued me, especially after 100. This one was much tougher than I thought it was going to be. 13:46 games. Running kills me, any tips. Thought I would be a much better runner after 8 months.

Plan on doing this WOD at home. Going to substitute jump rope singles for 400m run. Any suggestions on how many JR would be comparable to a 400 m run?

I was horribly slow or weak today for some reason. 20:37 (G). I think we should also list the distance ran :) (1.5 mi)

How long would it take you to run a 400m? Do singles for that amount of time.

A year ago, I joined Crossfit. I was scared, unfit, and frankly not sure that I could do it, but in the back of my head, I kept hearing ‘if not now, when?’ I wasn’t sure I would survive the first three weeks, learning new exercises and terms I’d never heard before, and the simple fact every fiber of my being ached.

As I reflect a year later, who knew I’d make it past those first three weeks, and now I’m at one year!! Who would have guessed I would be putting those thingamajigs (well, I obviously didn’t learn all the terms) on the end of the bars and working out with them. Who would have guessed I’d be performing dead-lifts, cleans, presses and even jerks? Certainly not me, but the trainers and the other Cross-fitters did!

For the past year, I have been going to Crossfit 4 times a week and coming home bruised and sore. Has it been worth it? A resounding YES! I am stronger, healthier, and have more endurance because of Crossfit. I am inspired daily by the other Cross-fitters on their strength and endurance and have allowed myself to be proud of my own strides rather than comparing myself to others I see as fitter or stronger. I now compare myself to me and feel more toned, stronger, and actually see muscle tone in my arms.

I am so grateful that Ken brought Crossfit to DMH. I’m grateful to the coaches for pushing, encouraging, and coaching me even as I whined as you knew I could do it before I did. I’m grateful to my Crossfit colleagues for their inspiration and encouragement as I couldn’t have asked for a better group to work-out with.

A year ago, I was scared and unfit. Today, I continue to push myself to be the best I can be while encouraging and inspiring others to be their best.

I want to thank every single one of you who have helped play a part in me becoming healthier, more confident, and a happier person.

that brought tears to my eyes while reading this to ken. so proud of everyone at this 1 year milestone. can’t wait for the new facility to open and for others to experience what we experience everyday. thanks to all the trainers for their encouragement and dedication.

I did a taking CF with you on monday (100 jumping jacks, 75 squats, 50 pushups, 25 burps). I changed it to 25 HSPU, 50 squat, 50 pu, 25 burp. Didn’t have a clock. Woke up alot more sore than expected, and had to move 2 tons of wall stone. Seeing todays WOD made me shiver….like tomorrows looks a ton better!
